The temptation to indulge in a cheeky McDonald’s here or there may prove too hard to resist once the fast food giant rolls out its latest technological innovation.
McDonald’s is trialling a new smartphone app that could let users order a Big Mac, milkshake or box of chicken nuggets from the comfort of their sofa.
Customers simply select their menu items of choice, pay through the app and then decide on how they would like to pick up their food.
At present, meal can be collected from the counter, drive-thru or “curbside” where by a McDonald’s employee will bring the meal out to you.
Of course, should the app prove successful, then a delivery service is more than likely to be rolled out with McDonald’s already offering a similar service by phone.
But before anyone in the UK gets too excited, it’s probably worth mentioning that the service is only being trialled in the US at present.
However, McDonald’s has every intention of bringing the service to all of its UK stores.
Jim Sappington, McDonald’s executive vice president of operations for digital and technology, told Reuters: “Our focus is to make the overall experience clearly better.”
McDonald’s meals a simple tap of a smartphone away? We’ve got a real bad feeling about this…
