Just five years ago, Margot Robbie was appearing on Aussie soap Neighbours – now she’s soaring into the stratosphere as one of the biggest new stars in Hollywood.
Buoyed by a winning turn in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and a part as DC Comics villainess Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, she’s swiftly cemented herself as the most in-demand actress around.
How did she get there? A killer combo of raw acting talent and sex appeal, as these nine previous roles keenly demonstrate.
Robbie’s breakthrough came in Aussie soap Neighbours, in which she played Donna Freedman. Described as “beautiful and a free spirit who is also a little loud and obnoxious”, her character soon became a Ramsay Street favourite and was upgraded from guest star to regular. After three years on Neighbours, Robbie uprooted and went to Los Angeles in pursuit of her silver screen dream. So far it’s mission accomplished.
