Luke Rockhold v Michael Bisping UFC 199 preview: Revisit the signature moves

Billed as one of the most explosive rivalries in MMA, if Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping can put on a show as good as their trash talk, we’re in for one hell of a rematch.

Always billed as the unofficial third fight between the two middleweights (the first one being a sparring session!), Rockhold v Bisping is a clash of styles that’s going to be very watchable.

Rockhold is more technically rounded, and always seemingly more relaxed and looser in his movement than his opponents – not to mention his explosive left kicks in his arsenal of techniques, against the definitely more aggressive and wired Bisbing.

A brief look back at Bisping’s 25-fight UFC career paints him as the ‘nearly man’, never achieving a world title. But this time could be different; his last fight with Anderson Silva saw him overcome adversity with a more mature game-plan and the mental strength to pull through a nasty jumping knee to the head that sent him to the deck. A previous version of Bisping would’ve cracked under those circumstances.

Mental preparation is now playing a much bigger part in Bisping’s training, which probably explains why every time we listen to him, he seemed to be getting his knickers in a twist and talked crazy.

However, the smart money’s on Rockhold. He comes from a stronger gym full of world champions, including Daniel Cormier and Caine Velasquez. Here’s a look at some of Rockhold’s signature moves – Hopefully Bisping will be taking notes.

UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Bisping 2 will be held on June 4, 2016 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
