Manchester United fans have not had much celebrate under Louis van Gaal this season – provided you willfully ignore the fact they just won the FA Cup for the first time in 11 years.
Toothless in front of goal with players in and out of the team and talk of disharmony in the dressing room, Van Gaal didn’t bring much in the way of playing style or identity to the Old Trafford club either.
What he did deliver, by the bucket-load, however, was some Danny Dyer-sized dollops of what lads – and Richard Keys of course – like to term as “bants”.
Bants is the kind of thing that turns a Champions League-winning coach competing in a foreign league and speaking another language, into something of a joke.
That’s not a criticism of a practice – more an honest observation of what has unfolded with Van Gaal’s head stuck on any number of weird and wonderful as part of a concerted effort to make a man who guided Holland to within a whisker of the World Cup into a laughing stock.
The press conferences and the results that have preceded them have hardly helped but with Manchester United moving to call time on LVG’s spell at the helm of the club, it’s high time someone looked back at just a few of the mad viral videos involving the former Ajax coach.
Goodbye Louis and good luck – we would not be surprised if you ended up winning silverware and wreaking some sort of revenge on United and Jose Mourinho in the not too distant future.
