It’s been 13 years since the last episode of Friends aired on NBC, and still barely a day goes by without fans speculating about the show returning.
After all, there are many answers that need answering: Did Ross and Rachel stay together? Did Phoebe ever change her name back to Princess Consuela Banana-Hammock? And what the hell happened to Gunter?
Sadly though, it looks like the gang are never getting back together. Lisa Kudrow just explained why a Friends reunion will never happen, and it all fairness, it makes perfect sense.
Speaking about a possible reunion, Kudrow told NBC: “I don’t see it happening. It would be fun, but what would it be about?”
“Think about it. The thing we liked best about the show was that they were 20-somethings and they were their own family.”
She added: “Now, they all have families, so what are we going to watch? Now we’re boring, middle-aged people… I wouldn’t want to watch me.”
It’s fair comment – after all, there are more than enough family-based sitcoms around at the minute, and a reunion would probably struggle to capture the spark of the early seasons.
However, it’s just a shame that Matt Le Blanc’s critically panned spin-off Joey is the last time we’ll ever revisit the Friends universe…
In the meantime, we’ll just have to make do with these crazy fan theories and endless re-runs on Comedy Central – works for us.
