Awkward! Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo BOTH on holiday in Ibiza

That’s a massive kick in the Balearics for the Barcelona star.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
What a Messi! Really? Ronaldo is here too?

Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the last person Lionel Messi wants to see right now.

While the Portuguese star was busy stropping his way to victory at Euro 2016, his Barcelona nemesis has been embroiled in a court case concerning tax avoidance.

Prior to that, Messi suffered heartbreak with Argentina after missing a penalty in the final of the Copa America against eventual winners Chile.

Worse still, Ronaldo’s success at the European Championship, coupled with Real Madrid’s victory in the Champions League has made the 31-year-old the favourite to claim the Ballon D’Or Messi won the previous season.

Having also only just narrowly avoided jail with a suspended 21-month sentence, Messi must have been hoping that a nice little holiday in the party island of Ibiza would give him a chance to forget about all that stuff.

There’s just one slight problem: Ronaldo is also on holiday in Ibiza.

And while the island is a big enough place to contain both players and their sizeable egos, something tells us they are definitely going to run into each other.

And that is only going to be awkward.

Will Messi actively hide from Ronaldo when he sees CR7 strutting along, undoubtedly shirtless?

Or maybe something much worse will happen – he’ll see Ronaldo and attempt a wave or smile only to have his advances ignored by the Portuguese prima donna.

Next time, Lionel, why not head to Croatia – it’s supposed to be great out there.

Better yet, buy yourself an island. Lord knows you have enough money for it.
