Lindsay Lohan is one of those actresses nobody knows what she might do next. Her latest shock was a few days ago, when she deleted all her Instagram posts and wrote “Alaikum Salam” (“and unto you peace”) on her bio.
Everyone went crazy and assumed that this meant Lohan had converted to Islam. The actress has been very involved with the refugee crisis and has even visited Turkey to show her support, visit in which she was seen wearing a headscarf.
She faced criticism back in the States for wearing it, although she defended her decision: “When the woman put that headscarf on me, I felt really honoured because she went out of her own way to allow me to be a part of my own culture and she didn’t have to do that.”
The rumour of Lohan becoming a Muslim had spread widely, adding fuel to it with these visits and the facts that Lohan was seen not so long ago holding the Quran. But as it seems, the conversion was only that: a rumour.
The actress’s mother, Dina Lohan, spoke to Gossip Cop to explain that her daughter is not converting to Islam.
Apparently, Lohan has simply decided to take a break from social media. After all, it’s not just her Instagram page that has gone blank: she has also deleted everything on her Twitter, where she has also shared the “and unto you peace” message.
So, while Lindsay is not converting to Islam, she acknowledges that she enjoys learning from that religion, which “opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”
And, let’s be honest, everyone needs a social media break every now and then.
