Lily James is following in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne by becoming the new face of Burberry.
The Downton Abbey and Cinderella star stripped off for a photoshoot with acclaimed Peruvian photographer Mario Testino.
The fast-rising British actress very modestly said that she worried about being in the “first bad pictures” Testino had ever taken.
However, James admitted that she was in “good hands” with Burberry and relished the opportunity to shed her corset and change people’s perception of her.
“It was quite liberating to break away from the stereotypes that people may have for me, and say, ‘well this is who I am.’ [But] quite intimidating,” she told The Telegraph.
“It was quite liberating to break away from the stereotypes that people may have for me.”
James added of her involvement in the brand and the big names that have come before her: “They are unashamedly who they are and very confident.
“Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne aren’t trying to bend their personalities to fit in. They are true to themselves. I want to try and be like that.
“The things that Burberry do really are ingrained in their brand, you saw it with Kate and Cara, there’s a family feel to what they do.”
Fresh from her role in the BBC’s hit TV adaptation of War & Peace, James will be heading back to the big screen to star in Edgar Wright’s crime comedy Baby Driver.
You’ll be able to see her that in March of next year.
