Hollywood stars Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts have announced they are ending their 11-year relationship.
They released a joint statement, which reads: “Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple.
“It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.”
Schreiber and Watts had been together since 2005 and have two children together.
Rumblings about problems in their relationship began earlier this year when Watts confessed during an interview with Los Angeles Confidential that their relationship was on shaky ground.
“You have high-pressure jobs, lots of hours, stresses that come unexpectedly – and you have to figure out how to be present in the midst of it all,” she said.
The pair, who have acted together before in The Painted Veil, will soon be co-starring in biographical film The Bleeder in which Schreiber plays former heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner while Watts will play Wepner’s third wife Linda.
The news of Schreiber and Watts’ split comes barely a week after Angelina Jolie announced she is divorcing Brad Pitt.
