Fifty Shades execs have locked in their first cast member for the second instalment of the film in the form of Kim Basinger.

The 63-year-old former Bond girl, Kim Basinger, who played Domino Petachi in Never Say Never Again opposite Sean Connery, is no stranger to steamy roles, with leads in 9½ Weeks and L.A Confidential.

According to Variety, Oscar-winner Basinger will play Elena Lincoln, Christian Grey’s Business partner and former lover in E.L James’ Fifty Shades Darker.

Elena, who is also known as Mrs. Robinson in the books, played a pivotal part in the teenage years of Christian Grey and in Fifty Shades Darker, she sets herself up to be an antagonist for Ana Steele.

The film will see Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprise their roles of Anastasia Steele and Grey respectively, and this offering sees directer Sam Taylor-Johnson hand over the reins to House of Cards’ James Foley.

Writer E.L James is penning the script alongside Niall Leonard, with Michael DeLuca and Dana Brunette producing the film.

Also returning to the cast for the sequel are Luke Grimes, Max Martini and Eloise Mumford, with production due to start on the film next month.

The first Fifty Shades movie was universally panned by critics and fans of the book alike. This time around, E.L James will be hoping that Fifty Shades Darker gets a much better reception as there’s also still a third offering int the form of Fifty Shades Freed to be made.

This year’s Razzies even nominated Dornan and Johnson for worst performance awards following the much-anticipated release. Still, it managed to go on to gross nearly £500 million worldwide and got its star performers in the form of Johnson and Dornan to agree to return for another instalment.

Fifty Shades Darker is expected to hit theatres on February 10, 2017, with the third film, Fifty Shades Freed, set to follow on February 9, 2018.
