After more than a decade away from the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, Keira Knightley has finally returned to the role of Elizabeth Swann.

The actress, who hasn’t appeared in the series since 2007’s At World’s End, will definitely be starring in the upcoming fifth instalment Salazar’s Revenge.

It’s welcome news for Pirates of the Caribbean fans everywhere, who were mostly left disappointed by On Stranger Tides back in 2011.

Knightley’s character remains one of the best things about the series, and her return could provide a welcome boost to Johnny Depp’s floundering franchise.

The fifth movie in the franchise, called Salazar’s Revenge, will also see her reunite with Orlando Bloom, who also hasn’t starred in a Pirates movie for over 10 years.

The extent of Knightley’s involvement in the film has yet to be confirmed, but she does appear – albeit very briefly – in the newly released Japanese trailer for the movie. Watch it below:

Javier Bardem is playing the main villain Salazar in the new movie, which is also reportedly set to feature a cameo from Paul McCartney. The movie will be released in the UK on May 26.

Keira Knightely made her name in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie in 2003, when she was just 16.

Knightley took time out from acting in 2015 to welcome her first child Edie with her husband James Righton.

Before then, Knightley starred in The Imitation Game back in 2014, and she also went to appear in Will Smith’s commercial flop Collateral Beauty in 2016.
