It’s official: the Wyld Stallyns will ride again with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter set to return for Bill & Ted Face The Music.
The pair will be reprising their roles as clueless time-travelling duo Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. in the new movie, which is being written by original creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
Dean Parisot, who is best known for the film Galaxy Quest, is directing, while Steven Soderbergh will serve as executive producers according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is set to take place 29 years after the events of 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, with the pair both older but not necessarily wiser.
The Wyld Stallyns are still together of course but despite writing countless songs, they have yet to compose the greatest song ever written.
But when a visitor from the future arrives with a warning that the fate of the world could depend on the band writing the perfect track, Bill and Ted have little choice but to embark on another time traveling adventure to seek out inspiration for the song.
Along the way they will be joined by a new selection of historical figures, a few music legends and their daughters.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again,” Reeves and Winter said in a statement. “Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”
