Jet Li’s Manager Responds To Shocking Photo Of Martial Arts Star

2018 has already been a distressing year for celebrity deaths, so when a picture surfaced of Jet Li looking decidedly frail, everyone feared the worst.

Li had previously revealed in an interview from 2013 that he suffered from hyperthyroidism, which results in the thyroid gland producing too much of the hormone thyroxine.

Even so, the 55-year-old looked like frail and virtually unrecognisable in a picture posted online by a fan who met the Lethal Weapon 4 star in Tibet.

It’s an unflattering photo and one that has left fans pretty shocked. Li looks about a million years old and a damn sight older than fellow action movie legend Jackie Chan, who is 64 but looks fresh-faced by comparison.

‘Is Jet Li dying’ the world thought aloud. ‘Is this like when Steve Jobs was ill but didn’t tell any of us until the last minute?’

Apparently not.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Li’s manager Steven Chasman confirmed that the actor isn’t dying. He’s not even ill. Apparently.

“He has hyperthyroidism that he’s been dealing with for almost 10 years. It’s nothing life-threatening and he’s dealing with it,” Chasman said,

“We appreciate everyone’s concern. But Jet is completely fine,” Chasman added in an interview with USA Today. “There’s nothing wrong with him. There’s no life-threatening illness. He’s in great shape.”

Well that’s a relief at least.
