Jennifer Lopez has just landed the acting role of her career.
The singer-film-star-talent-show-judge has just signed up to play notorious Colombian druglord Griselda Blanco in a movie for HBO.
Blanco, known as “The Cocaine Godmother” and the “Queen of Narco-Trafficking”, became the most powerful female cartel member in the 70s and 80s and would shift 300 kilos of coke per month at the height of her power.
Running her operation out of Miami, she also reportedly responsible for killing her first two husbands and ordered dozens more murders.
Blanco was eventually busted in 1985 and sentenced to more than 20 years in prison before being deported and going on to live in Medellín, Colombia.
She died in 2012 after being shot twice in the head by a motorcyclist in a drive-by.

So, JLo is essentially going to be playing a female version of Scarface’s Tony Montana, and that’s an incredibly exciting prospect. Even Dwayne Johnson can’t wait for it.
“I’ve been fascinated by the life of this corrupt and complicated woman for many years,” The Hollywood Reporter quotes Lopez as saying. “The idea of teaming with HBO felt like the perfect fit for finally bringing Griselda’s story to life.”
Lopez will also serve as a producer on the film, bizarrely, alongside ‘remember him?’ I Am Number Four actor Alex Pettyfer.
For further viewing on Blanco you might want to catch the TV series Queen of the South, which took inspiration from her life, or documentary Cocaine Cowboys 2.
