Jennifer Aniston is once again single – and possibly ready to mingle – after her split from husband Justin Theroux was confirmed in an official statement.
The couple confirmed the split together, stating the move was “mutual” and “lovingly made at the end of last year”, following two years of marriage.
The pair have apparently been living separate lives for some time now with reports suggesting Aniston has shown “no indication she’s upset” over the split, sparking speculation that it has been on the cards for some time.
According to ET, the split was sparked over a fundamental disagreement about where the couple should set down roots, with Theroux keen to remain in New York and Aniston less enthusiastic, preferring to live in Los Angeles.
“Justin has a very diverse friend group, and he likes that they’re not all ‘in the industry,” a source said. “She just never really could get settled in, she wasn’t happy [in New York],”
An impasse was reached, with the pair ultimately deciding to call time on their relationship. They remain on good terms despite the move.
News of Aniston’s split from Theroux has also sparked fresh speculation that the Friends star could rekindle her previous romance with ex-husband Brad Pitt.
The pair divorced after Pitt met and struck up a relationship with Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith.
Though the move left Aniston upset, it is thought that she and Pitt have patched things up and are back on speaking terms. With Pitt currently separated from Jolie and heading for a divorce of his own, social media is, understandably, awash with rumour.
Aniston is next set to feature in the upcoming war drama The Yellow Birds, based on the book of the same name and starring Tye Sheridan, Jack Huston and Alden Ehrenreich.
The film is due to be released in the Spring.
