The jacket potato is a straightforward and quick dinner that nearly always delivers, so long as its done right. However, we’ve found an easy way to improve your jacket potato EVERY time.
Of course, there is no wrong or right way to make the perfect jacket potato. But, instead of covering it in the usual toppings like chicken coronation, tuna may or beans and cheese, why not try this handy slicing trick that will have your spud looking better than ever?
A food blogger called The Gunny Sack has come up with a technique for preparing potatoes that is guaranteed to make them fluffier and crispier than ever.
Cut off the top of a potato, like so
Using a sharp, thin knife cut rings inside the potato
Flip it over and start making vertical cuts all around the outside into the centre, leaving a small space on top uncut
Brush the potato with olive oil or melted butter and sprinkle with salt.
Place on foil and bake at 220 degrees for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, brush with some more oil or butter and cook for another 30.
Then cover it with cheese and stick it back in the oven for an additional five minutes.
You may swoon at its beauty for a moment, then dig in.
