Jack O’Connell has lined up his next big movie role, after landing the role of British designer Alexander McQueen.
The former Skins star, who has appeared in movies ’71, Money Monster and Unbroken, will portray the tragic fashion icon in an upcoming biopic.
The movie will focus on the life of maverick designer, who tragically committed suicide at the age of 40 in 2010.
Visionary designer McQueen was known for being the chief designer at Givenchy, and also for founding his own successful fashion house.
The upcoming film will focus on a 2009 fashion show that saw McQueen re-work his famous designs from the last 15 years.
The as-yet-untitled movie will be based on Andrew Wilson’s 2015 biography Blood Beneath the Skin.
“It was a show that he dedicated to his mother and one in which he tried to make sense of his life and art,” a statement from developers Pathe read.
“The film explores McQueen’s creative process in the months leading up to the show, providing an intimate portrait of the man behind the global brand – a moving celebration of a visionary genius whose designs transcended fashion to become art.”
O’Connell will start filming the movie next Spring.
