Thousands of iPhone users downloaded Apple’s new iOS 10 update recently, and while they were hoping for slick new messaging and cool photo options, what they actually got was an influx of pornography.

The new update it riddled with problems, the biggest being that users are stumbling across explicit content while searching for GIFs.

A new feature has been introduced on iMessage, which means GIFs can quickly be added to messages, but it’s not working quite as Apple hoped…

Bizarrely, Deadspin were confronted with a My Little Pony pulling its pants down when they searched the word “butt”.

A women was also horrified to find her 8-year-old daughter discovering a GIF of a women performing oral sex when she searched “huge”, according to The Verge.

What’s to blame for the filthy new GIFs? The search tool used Bing’s search engine, which features a less sensitive SafeSearch setting than Google. Explicit images often filter to the top of searches as a result.

Apple is hard at work blocking search terms like “butt”, “huge” and “hard”, but plenty of naughty clips are still being found.

It’s a huge *facepalm* moment for Apple, who actually campaigned for a “freedom from porn” back in 2010.
