I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is, by and large, bloody good fun from start to finish.
The format is a simple yet winning one: get a bunch of Z-list celebrities to live in a jungle for a couple of weeks, during which time they take part in a series of tasks that require them to eat Kangaroo testicles, wallaby anuses and koala dicks.
Okay, so it’s not all just the likes of Dean Gaffney grimacing through another course of petrified penises – sometimes they eat bugs and worms too.
However, one thing that’s kind of always bugged some fans of the show, is the infamous “jungle show”.
Now, loaded understands that living in humid, jungle conditions can get a bit much and the celebs need to have a wash every now and then.
But must viewers really be treated to footage of them washing? On the one hand it’s weird – no one wants to see Timmy Mallet’s or anyone else’s bare arse on ITV.
And more importantly, when it comes to some of the more attractive members of the celeb cast – no offence, Timmy – the whole thing takes on a voyeuristic tone.
And you know full well that pictures of any female celebs that go under the shower are sure to pop up in the tabloids alongside some lazy jungle-based pun.
There could be good news though, amid reports that the jungle shower is under threat. With wet weather forecast for the first week of the new series, producers are increasingly concerned that the damp conditions could draw leeches out of hiding.
That would put the kibosh on any plans for a jungle shower and may force the programme’s makers to take alternative steps.
There’s also talk that a series of 170mph cyclones could leave the camp at further risk.
The new series of I’m A Celeb starts on Sunday November 19 and will feature the following:
