21 years on from Philip Davis’ football hooligan classic ID, a sequel has been made and will be hitting cinemas in time for next season.

ID2: Shadwell Army, starring Paul Popplewell, Linus Roache and Neil Pearson, will follow an undercover policeman sent undercover to infiltrate Shadwell Town’s violent gang.

There, he discovers that they’re being manipulated by a far-right group trying to use them to stir up racial tension.

Loaded has the exclusive new trailer for the film, which you can watch below to get a taste of what’s in store.

ID 2’s subject matter is highly-topical right now after West Ham fans’ attack on Manchester United’s team bus prior to the final game at the Boleyn Ground. Hooliganism is the ugly side of the game that refuses to go away.

ID attained a cult following in the 90s thanks to its brutal depiction of East End football violence. Warren Clarke, Philip Glenister and Sean Pertwee all featured in the impressive cast for the film.

It also paved the way for a slew of poorer imitations like The Football Factory and Green Street.

Sequel Shadwell Army will look to bring some credibility back to the hooligan film when it hits cinemas in August and DVD and Blu-ray in September.
