With temperatures continuing to rise across the UK, it’s more important than ever that you know how to ensure your drink of choice is as refreshingly cold as possible.

Thankfully, there’s a way of ensuring your beer, wine or drink of choice gets as cold as possible without having to wait too long for it to cool.

It’s been revealed by the beer-chilling geniuses over at the Lifehacker YouTube channel and could change the way we all booze during the hot summer months.

All you’ll need to achieve beer-based perfection is water, a bucket, ice, salt, a paper towel and, of course, beer or an alternative alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.

You start by placing a couple of cans or bottles of beer in the bucket before covering them over with ice and filling said container with water.



From there, you need to then pour a cup of salt over the ice and wait 10 minutes.

It’s all to do with science: the salt added to the water shifts the melting temperature of the ice, meaning the more energy is used to melt the ice which in turn results in a quicker drop in temperature.

Not that the science will matter too much – all you need to know is that cold beer is just a 10-minute wait away, whatever the situation and it’s all thanks to YouTubers.
