West Country native Holly Warden has made history to become Britain’s first ever NFL cheerleader.
The 25-year-old dancer will join the Miami Dolphins’ international roster after beating out 200 other hopefuls at auditions in Mexico earlier this year.
She’ll make her cheerleading debut next month in front of 65,000 fans at the New Miami Stadium when the Dolphins take on the Cleveland Browns. Not bad considering Warden grew up in Congresbury, Somerset, a town with a population of just 4,000.
“This is a dream come true for me and I am especially proud to be the only British NFL cheerleader. I have dreamt about this since school,” Warden said.
“We are truly ambassadors of the Miami Dolphins, not only cheering at the games, but also active in our community visiting schools and hospitals, and bringing spirit to our military troops abroad.”
A spokesperson for the Miami Dolphins added that Holly’s is more than equipped to take on a Dolphin cheerleader role.
“Holly talks extensively about the Cheerleaders’ need for mental and physical strength, making them exceptional athletes,” they said.
Warden’s training regime will be quite an intense one – she’ll have to put in 12 hours a week with the Dolphins and do extra gym time to master her cheerleading moves.
Here’s to a successful season for Holly and the Dolphins… hopefully without any stolen mascots…
