A shop owner in Huddersfield has taken the extraordinary step of banning Harry Potter fans from his shop because as he puts it the wands are ‘spiritual tools’ and not toys for young Muggles.
Wand maker Richard Carter owns Mystical Moments, which supplies wands to be used for good, casting healing spells and protective circles or good luck charms. They can also be used to ward off illness and if you so wish, bring you wealth and love.
The wand maker is not feeling the love for Hogwarts fans after he recently announced that Potter books have killed his business.
The eccentric businessman explained: “JK Rowling has obviously done her research but Harry Potter is for children. It has done nothing for business.
“You wouldn’t believe how many real witches and wizards there are knocking about. You would be amazed. They know they can come here and reveal themselves without people thinking they’re mental.
“I don’t have customers who have been Harry Potterfied. If I had someone come in wanting a wand just because they liked Harry Potter I would not sell them one, no matter how much they were offering.”
All very heartbreaking for the wizard turned shopkeeper who also explained to the Telegraph the ritual behind making a wand.
The new owners perform a ritual involving burning incense and clasping both hands over the wand to “cleanse” it of the wand maker’s energy.
Make sure you stop by if you ever find yourself in the area.
