The head of Disney, the studio behind the Star Wars spin-off about Han Solo, just dropped a major bombshell about the upcoming film.
Disney CEO Bob Iger was speaking to students at USC about the spin-off, currently in production. He hinted that there is a great deal for us to look forward to in 2018 but one mention, in particular, stood out.
“There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo’s life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film. But you will also discover how he got his name,” he said.
Wait, what? Han Solo isn’t his real name? For the last few decades, fans have assumed that the rebel smuggler was born with that moniker. Not to mention that countless bits of merchandise, fan tattoos, and even children have been named after the iconic character.
Apparently, our minds are going to be blown come next year. Hopefully, he’s not related to anyone significant, namely a Skywalker.
Woody Harrelson also added to furor during an interview with Jimmy Fallon where he let loose the name of his character in the Star Wars spinoff, “I play a guy named Beckett, whose kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han. That’s all I can say,” he told Fallon.
We’re sure the rest of the year will bring more leaks as production on the film ensues. Either way, we can’t wait for May 25th, 2018.
