A Guardians of the Galaxy Avengers crossover is finally going to happen.
Marvel’s two most popular superhero teams joining forces is something fans have wanted to see for some time – now it’s definitely on the cards if franchise star Vin Diesel is to be believed.
The ‘voice’ of Groot, Guardians’ vocab-limited alien tree, revealed in a Facebook live video details about the MCU team-up. And he had a lot more to say than just “I am Groot”.
“Now, the Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that’s incredibly exciting,” Diesel said. “You were told before everybody.”
Avengers: Infinity War isn’t due in cinemas until 2018, but before that Diesel and co will be back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which is out in May of next year.
Guardians isn’t expected to play host to any Avengers members, with director James Gunn recently declaring it’ll be unrelated to other MCU instalments.
When asked about the chances of Guardians 2 including Marvel film staples the Infinity Stones, he replied: “There will be infinity nothing. It’s a story about the Guardians, and isn’t meant to lead to anything else.”
For a proper Guardians of the Galaxy Avengers crossover, you’ll have to wait until 2018.
