Greggs fans soon won’t have to go far for their regular fix of pasties and sausage rolls, with the bakery giants trialling a brand new home delivery service.

That’s right folks, you could soon be getting steak bakes delivered directly to your door with the new service set to be initially trialled in Newcastle – the British capital of all things pastry and pie.

From this week, workers at the Cobalt Business Park in the north east city will be able to order everything from sausage rolls to Cornish pasties at the click of a mouse.

Cobalt Business Park communications manager Amy Carroll told the Newcastle Chronicle:

“I am sure Greggs Delivered will provide a popular choice for our businesses catering for meetings and for people who just fancy a team lunch.

“This service adds to a host of fantastic lunch options staff at the park have to choose from – they will be spoilt for choice!”

If successful, the trial will be extended to both Manchester and London, as Greggs looks to expand into the lucrative home delivery market.

The arrival of mobile app services like Deliveroo have changed the game for many eataries in recent months, allowing customers to choose from a wider range of delivery options, including several restaurants that, traditionally, shied away from the takeaway market.

Increased economic constraints coupled with a rise in the number of people and couples preferring to binge-watch the popular shows of the day has also seen a sharp rise in the number of people using takeaway services.

Forget Netflix and Chill guys – in 2016 it’s all about Netflix and Deep-fill…chicken pies, that is.
