George Clooney is a pretty cool guy already, but one story doing the rounds online has seen the Ocean’s 11 actor go up even further in everyone’s estimations.
According to Rande Gerber, husband of Cindy Crawford and co-founder of the Casamigos tequila company with Clooney, the former Batman star once gave 14 of his closest friends $1 million each.
That’s an act of incredible generosity that puts pretty much anything Bruce Wayne has ever done in the shade. More because Wayne is a fictional character, but you get our point.
Gerber made the claim during an appearance on MSNBC’s Headliners, revealing that Clooney set up a dinner back in 2013 for a group of guys he refers to as “The Boys.”
No, not them. They’re rich enough already.
When the group gathered at Clooney’s house, they found designer suitcases at each of their place settings at the dinner. These suitcases were filled with $1 million each in $20 bills.
Clooney then proceeded to tell the group the following:
“I know we’ve all been through some hard times, some of you are still going through it. You don’t have to worry about your kids, you don’t have to worry about, you know, school, you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage.”
Wow. That’s almost enough to forgive him for Batman & Robin. Well, almost…
Best of all, Clooney revealed he had already paid taxes on all of the money. Yep, he found a way to make the whole thing even better and completely above board.
It’s also kind of weird to read a story involving a famous person that actually pays tax. Who knew they could do that?
Is Clooney possibly the best friend you could ever ask for? Quite possibly. Are we now regretting not becoming firm friends with Clooney when we had the chance? No, because that was a dream.
