Game Of Thrones fan theories are everywhere in the run up the show’s seventh season, but one in particular is picking up more attention than most…

A hugely convincing theory about the fate of the Lannisters is winning over Thrones fans all over the internet, and now one of the show’s main stars has waded in on the speculation.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, none other than Jaime Lannister himself Nikolaj Coster-Waldau responded to the rumours, and he seemed totally convinced.

The theory comes after new pictures were released by HBO, which show Jaime standing by the side of his sister and lover Queen Cersei, who is seated on the Iron Throne.

Dedicated Game Of Thrones fans (who’ve read the books and know WAY more about the series than we ever could) soon twigged that Jaime’s sword – named Widow’s Wail – was fastened to the knight’s hilt, potentially signaling that he could be about to kill her in the upcoming season.

Jaime, of course, is no stranger to killing royalty. He earned the nickname ‘The King Slayer’ after ending the reign of The Mad King. Could history repeat itself in season seven?

Coster-Waldau revealed that he think the theory is “absolutely” possible, and wouldn’t be surprised to see it come true.

“I heard that theory, and it absolutely makes sense. It would be a perfect little nod,” he said.

The actor – who it was recently reported earns $2m per episode on the show – wasn’t giving much away though.

“But who knows? You’ll have to watch the show. It’s a good theory. I always thought maybe it’s too neat, but who knows.”

Jaime murdering Cersei certainly would be an incredible plot twist, but we’ll have to wait until the show returns on July 16 to find out more.
