Fenerbahce striker Fernandao has been hit with a two-game ban and £11,500 fine after celebrating his opening goal against Besiktas in provocative fashion.

The 30-year-old opted to celebrate his opening goal for Fener by pelvically thrusting towards the home support during the heated encounter.

There are some people out there who would have you believe that scoring a goal is better than sex and, from the looks of it, the Brazilian is very much in that category.

Unfortunately for Fernandao, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) didn’t take too kindly to his Elvis-like sex motion antics.

There’s quite a lot of history between Fenerbahce and Besiktas, you see, with the two clubs both based in Istanbul and known for their intense rivalry along with fellow capital club. Galatasaray.

So Fernandao’s celebration in front of the Besiktas fans was very much designed to wind their rival’s supporters up and the TFF evidently agreed.

The Brazilian was duly handed a two-match ban along with a hefty fine of £11,500, after a disciplinary panel decided the forward was guilty of provoking the Besiktas support.

Worse still, for Fernandao, that goal ultimately ended up being in vein, with the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions, Besiktas, fighting back to win 3-1.

At least he’ll think twice before unleashing this sort of celebration again.
