Donald Trump is in big trouble. James Comey, the former FBI director who was famously fired by Trump last month, is due to testify in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee today to decide whether Trump is guilty of obstructing justice while in office.
In preparation for this, his opening statement regarding every interaction between him and President Trump has been released, and it is SHOCKING.
The major revelations that have come out of this document make Trump sound more like a mafia boss than the 45th president of the United States, and the media is eating it up.
loaded has compiled five of the most insane excerpts ahead of Comey’s full statement which might just be worse…
“I need loyalty; I expect loyalty.”
It’s important to understand the exact nature of the FBI within the White House framework. The Department of Justice and the FBI are both entirely independent of the president’s office and with good reason. Muddy waters in government tend to breed corruption, and that’s never a good idea.
Comey was cognisant of this, so when Trump said, “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty,” to him during a January 27 dinner, it made it glaringly obvious to Comey that Trump was looking to “bring him into the fold” or was just completely ignorant of how the FBI worked. Both are probably true. Either way, it’s a big no-no to speak to the FBI director like that and Comey described the entire dinner as very “awkward” and “concerning.” This statement getting out could be the first nail in the Trump coffin.
