Love is a beautiful thing for a lot of people, well except for this poor bloke – Mr Alexander Pieter Cirk.
Cirk, a 41-year-old man from Holland, recently flew from his home in Holland to Hunan in China after meeting the love of his life online.
But this story doesn’t have a happy ending – Cirk didn’t strike gold. He was left stranded in an airport for 10 days after no one came to pick him up and he was stood up by his online other half.
The woman, who is only known as Zhang, struck up a friendship online with Mr Cirk. In fact the 26-year-old was surprised to hear he was in the country.
Ms Zhang told local Chinese TV: “We had advanced our romantic relationship but later he seemed a little callous towards me/
“One day he sent me a photo of air tickets abruptly and I thought it was a joke. He didn’t contact me later.”
Turns out Mr Cirk had to be forced out of the airport because he was suffering from physical exhaustion according to the BBC.
