Pierce Brosnan may be the current front-runner to land the coveted role of Cable in Deadpool 2 but the man who created the Merc with a Mouth may have other ideas.
The actor best known for playing 007 was snapped alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman a couple of months back in a series of images that sparked fresh speculation he was set to step into the role of the cult X-Men character.
However Rob Liefeld, the man who created Deadpool in the first place, is keen on another actor taking on the part.
Taking to Twitter to have his say on the subject, Liefeld put forward the idea of Russell Crowe taking on the part.

Crowe, for his part, was quick to respond to the comments suggesting he is open to the idea and that, ultimately, it would be down to Ryan Reynolds.

Do either Liefeld or Crowe know something we don’t? It’s too early to say though it certainly shouldn’t be ruled out.
Crowe has some experience when it comes to comic book movies, having played Superman’s ill-fated father, Jor-El, in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
Brosnan, however, has yet to appear in a comic book movie and the idea of the former James Bond playing Cable is intriguing to say the least. Watch this space.
