Stranger Things star and former “dad bod” poster boy David Harbour has undergon an incredible transformation to prepare for his starring role in the upcoming Hellboy reboot.
Harbour is taking over the role from Ron Perlman, who previously played the comic book favourite in two well-received films released in 2004 and 2008 respectively.
The Stranger Things actor is taking a slightly different route for the 2018 reboot though, tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of The Blood Queen, and it involves getting ridiculously ripped
Harbour has featured in a variety of bit-part roles in numerous blockbusters and TV over the years but only truly found fame as Police Chief Hopper on the hit Netflix sci-fi series.
The grumpy cop with a good heart is a firm fan favourite and, more importantly, emerged as something of a surprise sex symbol among those with an appreciation of the “dad bod”.
Harbour isn’t particularly out of shape by any standards though – it’s more that he embodies a certain every man quality which feeds into his performance.
Or at least that used to be the case.

A tweet from the official Hellboy movie Twitter account first hinted at Harbour’s extraordinary body transformation and now a video by Muscle Madness has revealed just how extraordinary it is.
Some were a little sceptical when Harbour was first cast as the chain-smoking half-man-half-demon who fights Nazis and other supernatural entities. But this clip could change their minds.
So how has it happened? Well, it’s all thanks to the work of personal trainer Don Saladino, who counts Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds among his clientele.
Harbour, who wasn’t exactly a massive gym bunny before meeting Saladino, revealed how it all happened in an interview posted on the trainer’s official website.
“There is something very special about Don as a person and a trainer” Harbour says.”He brings great creativity to the workout regimes, which in the past have usually terrified and bored me.”
“His methods are unique, as well as heavily researched,” he adds. “Not only that, but they are even fun, despite the challenges you are taking on.”
The Muscle Madness video also reveals the blood, sweat and tears that went into Harbour’s training regime. The biggest motivation for the Stranger Things star comes with the fact he’s desperate to prove the naysayers, who questioned his suitability for the role, wrong.
“I’ve got something to prove,” he said. “I really want to do justice to this character and create a Hellboy that everyone can get behind.2
Hellboy: Rise of The Blood Queen will arrive in 2018.
