There’s no fun involved when it comes to making Fifty Shades Of Grey.
Dakota Johnson, who’s currently filming sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed back-to-back, has revealed filming her marathon bedroom sessions with co-star Jamie Dornan are “tedious”.
Speaking to Chrissie Hynde for Interview, Johnson admitted that faking it for Fifty Shades isn’t something she gets a kick out of.
“I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I’m over it.”
“It’s not comfortable. It’s pretty tedious,” said Johnson. Hynde recalled getting “totally freaked” for a kissing scene with boxer Gary Stretch for a Pretenders video.
“So you’ve got to pretend to have sex with someone? Or, I don’t know, maybe you’re actually doing it. But in front of a whole camera crew…” Hynde said.
Johnson quickly clarified that Fifty Shades’ erotic scenes aren’t the real deal.
“Well, we’re not having actual sex,” said Johnson, 26. “But I’ve been simulating sex for seven hours straight right now, and I’m over it.”
Johnson also spoke about feeling the pressure of celebrity and her insecurities as an actor.
“I still feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m unsure of what my life will be like.I have such an obsession with making movies that I probably will always do that,” she explained.
“But sometimes my life can feel so suffocating, and then it can feel so massive, like I don’t have a handle on it at all, and I don’t know where it’s going or what I’m going to do. Right now, I’m known for making movies. And I wonder if that’s it. I don’t know. It doesn’t feel like it to me.”
The next instalment in the Fifty Shades series, Fifty Shades Darker, will see Kim Basinger, Tyler Hoechlin, Hugh Dancy and Bella Heathcote join the cast. It opens in cinemas on February 10 2017.
