WWE might be great entertainment, but it has about as much basis in reality as a comic book movie.

The same can’t be said for the CZW Tournament of Death, a yearly tournament in the wrestling community that sees bones snapped, blood spilled, and barbed wire baseball bats just like Negan’s from The Walking Dead.

Vice’s latest documentary gives the inside track on the contest, which attracted hardcore wrestling fanatics from across the globe this summer in Delaware.

“This isn’t like any sort of wrestling you saw on TV at every WrestleMania or things like that,” said the doc’s presenter Damian Abraham.

“It’s pro wrestlers just the same, but they’re going to be using all manner of weapons to injure each other for the entertainment of the thousands of people.”

So when someone takes a chair shot to the head, they’re really taking a chair shot to the head.

The 15th annual showdown saw organisers Combat Zone Wrestling throw competitors into a Tournament of Death, having to go three rounds to take home the blood-soaked crown.

In the Ring of Fire and Wire Deathmatch final, Rickey Shane Page defeated Matt Tremont to win his very first title.
