There’s serious beef between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
Retired boxing champ Mayweather has been trying to lure UFC’s McGregor into a fight for a while, saying he’s the only man who’d convince him to step back into the ring for.
Despite attempts to make it happen, no terms have ever been agreed with McGregor claiming Mayweather couldn’t come up with enough cash (“as soon as he gets my money, we can fight”).
Mayweather told USA Today that he doesn’t need to fight again after earning $300m for taking on Manny Pacquiao.
“The money don’t make me; I make money. I’m well off. I make smart moves, and like I said before, I’m happy with where my career went,” he explained.
However, McGregor fired back at Mayweather in a new interview with TMZ, branding the undefeated fighter “afraid” to face him.
“As far as real fighting – true, pure unarmed combat – Floyd don’t want none of this,” he said. “I want the $100 million cash to fight him in boxing rules because he’s afraid of a real fight.”
McGregor is fresh from his UFC 205 victory against Eddie Alvarez over the weekend. The 28-year-old Irishman is the first MMA fighter to hold two belts.
Mayweather, meanwhile, has a 49 to zero unbeaten record to show for his 19-year career.
