Class Of 92 will return to TV screens later this year with a second series, the BBC has confirmed.
Class Of 92: Out Of Their League will continue following the fortunes of Salford City FC, the Northern Premier League club owned by former Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Gary Neville and Phil Neville.
All five will return for the new BBC1 fly-on-the-wall documentary series, alongside hot-tempered managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, chairman Karen Baird and tea lady Babs.
The two-part second series will be shown later this year.
Class Of 92’s first series ended with Salford lifting the Evo-Stick First Division North league. But since then, Gary Neville has departed to take manage Spanish top-flight club Valencia with Phil as his assistant.
City players like Gareth Seddon have also become local celebrities.
The new Class Of 92 will examine how the team is faring now that the club’s profile has been raised significantly.
Patrick Holland, Head of BBC Documentaries, said of the second run: “The original series took us to the heart of a community where much was at stake as the new owners took over.
“Not only was it hugely entertaining, it also explored the often difficult relationship between tradition and progress that resonated with the wider audience. We are very excited to return to Salford for another season of highs and lows.”
Executive producer Meredith Chambers added: “I’m delighted to once again bring the story of Salford City to the BBC. Our cameras have been rolling since the start of the current season and there’s certainly more drama, on and off the pitch, to come.
“Since the first season the characters of Moor Lane have been thrust into the limelight and things have certainly changed at this club. The access we have once again been given is exceptional and the next chapter is set to be just as thrilling as the first. ”
As of yet, no official transmission date for Class Of 92: Out Of Their League’s return has been confirmed.
