Christie Brinkley first posed for the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition back in 1979 but, almost 30 years on, the supermodel proved she’s still more than a match for some of today’s most stunning stars.
Unfortunately, in this instance, it was her daughters, Sailor Brinkley Cook and Alexa Ray Joel, who were left eating the dust with the trio posing for an eye-catching shoot that saw the 63-year-old take centre stage.
Not that either one of Alexa or Sailor comes out looking bad or anything, with both wowing during the Sports Illustrated cover feature, which saw all three stars strip down to their undercrackers.
Yet it’s Brinkley’s appearance, at the age of 63, that has emerged as the most eye-catching aspect from the new shoot, with the supermodel showing exactly why she’s rated as one of the greats.
Seemingly channelling every MILF/Cougar-led male fantasy you are ever likely to find, the shoot could see Brinkley attract a whole new fan base.
Brinkley, who was once married to Billy Joel, had made a habit of appearing in the magazine, appearing eight times between the years of 1975 and 2004.
This included three cover shoots in the years 1979, 1980 and 1981.
For Brinkley, though, this particular shoot was especially significant.
“This is a real full circle moment for me,” Christie told Sports Illustrated.
“I can get very emotional about this. How many years ago, I was that insecure girl hoping that I would be good enough for the magazine. So to see my daughters now having the same thoughts I had, and to be able to see them actually be there on the job, was definitely a big moment.”
The very definition of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit legend.
