Champions Day at Ascot is always a special occasion, whether you are someone who regularly has a bet on the nags or prefers the occasional flutter following a few well-earned pints.
The finale of the flat racing season, it’s also the richest raceday in the UK calendar and the perfect opportunity to not only take in a few thrilling racings but maybe make a few quid along with the fun.
Betting of any kind should always be approaching with caution though, whether it’s the sum staked or the horse backed.
Thankfully, ahead of the big day, loaded has enlisted help in the form of award-winning tipster and horse racing editor Stephen Harris of bettingexpert.com who has provided what he views as the three strongest bets of the day – enjoy and remember: bet responsibly.
1.25 Simple Verse 2pt ew 11/2 paddy power
Ralph Beckett’s top class filly had not been at her best in three runs this season, but she looked back in A1 condition when back on easy ground at Doncaster in September. The rain has come in time this week, and she looks a cracking each-way bet here with very few realistic contenders and the stable in terrific form. The short priced favourite Order of St George sets a high standard, but he has been on the go all season and had a gruelling race in the Arc just thirteen days ago.

2.35 Zhukova 5pt win 3/1 betway
Dermot Weld’s progressive filly has impressed in winning her last two Group 3s, and now looks more than ready to take on Group 1 opposition. She has proven form in Ireland on ground on the softer side of good, and the fitting of first time cheekpieces might eek out a bit more improvement. Seventh Heaven sets the standard, but she was sunk without trace when running on soft ground in the Oaks at Epsom in June, and might need faster ground to show her best.

3.45 Almanzor 5pt win 6/4 William Hill
This French raider has won his last four races at the highest level, and really impressed when defeating the subsequent Arc winner Found at Leopardstown last time out (expected to confirm the form here). He has ideal conditions now the rain has come, with Soumillon again in the plate and his devastating turn of foot sure to be a huge asset at the business end of a cracking Champion Stakes.
