Well, that’s one way to motivate yourself.

Swimmer Santo Condorelli has revealed that his father, and coach, came up with an interesting pre-race ritual when he was a kid that he has kept to this day.

The swimmer said of his coach/dad: “(Coach said) ‘You’ve got to build your confidence yourself and say eff everybody else that you’re racing,

“He said ‘Every time you’re behind the blocks, give me the finger and I’ll give it back to you.'”

The process started when he was eight years old and he has kept it going to this day because of it’s success, and to be fair it’s pretty unsettling for the competitors.

The racer will compete at Rio this summer for Canada in the 100 metre freestyle and 50 metre freestyle.
