Life on Mars Andrew Wyatt says the pressure to write for Bruno Mars can be unhealthy.

Bruno Mars is working again with the singer who co-wrote his smash single Grenade.

Miike Snow singer Andrew Wyatt has confirmed to Loaded that he’s been back in the studio with Mars for the first time since they worked together on Mars’ last album Unorthodox Jukebox in 2012.

Wyatt said: “I went into the studio with Bruno recently.” He added that he always feels under pressure when he writes with Mars, as their working relationship is so intense.

Wyatt explained: “I don’t get to spend much time with Bruno. So every time I go in there, I feel under pressure to prove myself with him again.”

Since Unorthodox Jukebox, Mars has featured on Mark Ronson’s smash Uptown Funk and it’s also known that he’s working with his regular producer Charles Moniz on his new album.

Mars will make his public comeback this Sunday, when he is Coldplay’s special guest at their show during half-time of the Super Bowl alongside Beyonce.

Wyatt is the first of Mars’ co-writers to confirm that he’s working with the singer again. As well as Grenade, Wyatt co-wrote Moonshine and Since I Was Your Man on Unorthodox Jukebox.

Wyatt said: “I know that Bruno is a legacy artist now. People will know his name for generations to come, and you feel the weight of that history when you’re in the studio with him sometimes. In a way, that’s not healthy. You do your best work when it’s relaxed.”

The New Yorker, who has also co-written with Ronson, added: “That best work comes with familiarity and friendship.”

Wyatt contrasted his friendship with Mars to that of his working relationship with Mark Ronson. He said: “I’m friendly with Bruno. But there are big names, like Ronson, who I’m tight with. For Ronson and I, I don’t feel like there’s a time limit with how many shots I get to get it right. We’re committed to each other, so there’s no pressure on any specific session.”

Miike Snow release their new album iii on March 4, having recently debuted its songs Genghis Khan and Heart Is Full. A full interview with Wyatt will be on Loaded soon.

Wyatt also revealed to Loaded recently that he’s formed a duo, Liv, with Lykke Li.
