Brie Larson will make Marvel history when she leads the studio’s first ever female-led superhero movie.

The Oscar-winning star of Room will, aptly, play Captain Marvel in the blockbuster, which isn’t due to hit cinemas until the far off reaches of 2019.

Larson has only just been officially revealed as the superheroine, but she’s already embracing the role full-force with some friendly banter directed towards Captain America star Chris Evans.

To quote a Tom Hanks classic: “I’m the captain now.”

Larson and Evans are former co-stars thanks to Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, so expect this rivalry for Marvel movie captaincy to continue right through to 2019.

Larson is an avid social media user with more than 350,000 Twitter followers and 500,000 fans on Instagram.

The 26-year-old has already won over the hard-to-please Marvel fanbase thanks to prolific retweeting of Captain Marvel fan art.

She probably won’t be seen on the big screen until the next Avengers movie, but we have a good idea of what she’ll look like in the red and gold outfit thanks to these photos…
