If there’s one thing Hollywood loves, its actors doing bad accents.
The likes of Tom Hardy are keeping the dodgy dialects alive in 2017, and now it looks like Brad Pitt is getting in on the act too.
Of course, Brad has a pretty checkered past when it comes to attempting accents in movies – his Irish accent in 1997’s The Devil’s Own was pretty awful, but his efforts in Snatch were fairly spot on.
Now, he’s back to his old tricks in the trailer for his new Netflix movie War Machine. He puts on a gruff Southern drawl in his role as General Stanley McChrystal, and it got us thinking – haven’t we heard it somewhere before?
Is it just us, or is it very similar to his Aldo Raine accent in Inglourious Basterds?
There are clear similarities, but it’s almost a shame that we’re being distracted from War Machine. The Netflix project looks like a good watch, and it could see Pitt return to his best.
Pitt plays a general “who leapt in like a rock star to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist’s no-holds-barred exposé,” and he’s wearing a grey wig too, which is obviously cool.
Anyway, the trailer just reminded us how good Inglourious Basterds is, so we’re off to watch it.
