The old saying about blondes having more fun really does ring true apparently, though not in the way most would have hoped.
According to research produced by IllicitEncounters.com, the dating website designed specifically for married people, blonde women are more likely to cheat on their partners than their brunette counterparts.
Around 31 per cent of all women on the website are listed as naturally blonde, with brunettes accounting for 27 per cent and women with black hair around 24 per cent.
Interestingly, a survey of 400 female users found that around 19 per cent of all women on the site admit to dying their hair blonde too, evidently eager to indulge their naughty side a little.
Illicit Encounters spokesperson Christian Grant has got a theory when it comes to the high number of blondes doing the dirty too.
“We’re all very proud and particular about our hair. It’s without doubt our most defining and striking physical feature. Good hair can make you feel more confident in your appearance, and it definitely has a significant impact on your mood,” he said.
“We’ve always known that blonde haired women are traditionally more desirable, more outgoing and more confident. They look younger, and men typically prefer blondes; there’s a reason every celebrity, from Kim Kardashian to Katy Perry to Miley Cyrus, has dyed their hair blonde at one point or another.
“Combine their youthful looks, their outgoing and livelier attitude, and confidence in spades, and it’s easy to see why blonde haired woman are more likely to cheat.
“Whether it’s because their marriage has hit a rough patch, or the idea of a secret tryst on the side just happens to take their fancy, blondes want and *can* have their cake and eat it too. And luckily for her, she’s exactly what men want, making her job even easier.”
By contrast, gingers proved far more faithful with red heads accounting for just eight per cent of users on the site. Then again, there are few gingers in general, right?
It might be time to get a little ginger spice in your life.
