Blake Lively has battled sharks and travelling pants, but her next role might just be her hardest yet.

The actress has been cast in Nick Cassavetes’ next film called Bruised, an MMA action packed drama. Most likely in the vein of past female-driven fighter films like Million Dollar Baby.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Lively is playing the character Jackie, a single mum and former MMA fighter struggling to make ends meet and raise her son alone.

It should be an interesting role for Lively who has been moving into more challenging, action-packed ventures lately since her turn in the shark thriller The Shallows.

While members of the fighting community might be tentative to see a non-fighter represent them on the screen once again, hopefully, Blake can do justice to the years and years of strenuous training these athletes endure.

What can she expect training wise? It’s likely that a custom regimen will be created for the actress and it may include many of the techniques used in training the top MMA and UFC fighters.

At her zenith, Ronda Rousey worked out six hours a day, six days a week. The training involved 2000 crunches, then take-downs on the bag while punching, wrestling and grappling. Not to mention the multiple conditioning exercises and hours of cardio. It’s not going to be easy for the actress if she does it right.

No word yet on when the film will be released, but we look forward to seeing Lively’s transformation into a formidable fighter.
