Remember that Blake Lively booty post that landed her in hot water for quoting Sir Mix-A-Lot?

Well, the Gossip Girl star is sticking to her guns and won’t apologise for it. Despite her Instagram update – in which she described herself as having “an LA face with an Oakland booty” – bringing online cries of racism, the actress has explained the comments to SiriusXM.

“I was celebrating my body… It’s nice to have a nice curve and not look like you’re starving to death.”

“It’s something I was proud of,” said Lively when asked about her behind. “I never meant to offend anyone.”

Sir Mix-A-Lot himself even jumped into the debate to defend Lively, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he was all cool with the comments.

Lively added: Sir Mix-A-Lot, he actually said a really nice thing, he was very defensive and kind, because it’s just about celebrating women’s bodies, and that’s what I was doing.

“I would never want to hurt anyone’s feelings or upset anyone. I was celebrating my body… It’s nice to have a nice curve and not look like you’re starving to death.”

Lively will be back on the big screen this summer playing a surfer terrorised by a giant shark in The Shallows.
