Have you ever wished you could combine your Downward Dog or Yoga Flow with a cold brewski or two? Well, wish no more because beer yoga is here and it’s drinking for the mind body and soul.
Sod the water, herbal tea and kale smoothies, in 2017 it’s all about enjoying two of the oldest existing therapies for those seeking inner peace.
Originating out of Berlin back in 2015, Bier Yoga was first presented as the “marriage of two great loves” according to the official website.
“Both are centuries-old therapies for body, mind and soul. The joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga compliment each other, and make for an energizing experience.”
Just to be clear though; beer yoga is no joke. In fact, those behind the new alcohol-inspired spiritual phenomenon are firm believers in the power of beer yoga to do real good.
“We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness,” they explain.
Naturally, there are some sceptics, with previous literature suggesting that the most effective yoga sessions require those involved to operate on an empty stomach.
Berlin, we're back again on Thursday evening. 19:00 session start, get there from 18:30 to get your spot! Bring your yoga mat and drinking buddy to Else bar. Cheers & namaste. #yoga #Berlin #beeryoga #bieryoga #fitness #yogalove #yogainspiration #beer #bier #party #fun #berlincalling #berlinlove #berlin4you #züri
Still, the craze is catching on across the globe, with sessions already taking place in Sydney, Australia. This could be the start of something big and a little bit boozy.
