The identity of graffiti artist Banksy has long remained a mystery.
Despite directing and starring in his own Oscar-nominated documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, nobody has actually managed to nail down exactly who he is.
Is the guerrilla artist Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja (as speculated earlier this year)? Or some bloke called Robin Cunningham? Maybe it’s more than one man or woman?
The latest twist in the Banksy tale doesn’t reveal who he is, but we do allegedly get a decent look at the man behind it all.
YouTube user Mia S caught a street artist in Melbourne stencilling an image of Pauline Hanson, leader of Australia’s right wing One Nation party, in a t-shirt saying “F**k off – W’re fools.”
“So I was walking home from work late last night and I was watching a street artist doing a piece in Hosier Lane,” wrote Mia.
“I double backed and pulled out my phone as he was finishing up. Can’t believe I just met Banksy!”
“F*ck off! F*ck off!” yelled ‘Banksy’ before fleeing with a pair of cohorts.
Too add fuel to the fire, a Melbourne gallery is currently hosing an exhibition of Banksy’s work. Some are speculating that the video might actually be an elaborate publicity stunt to promote it.
Is this the real deal? Perhaps we’ll never know…
