Ashley Graham has been honoured with a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll that’s the spitting image of the model and body activist.
Put together as part of the first-ever Glamour Women of the Year summit, in which Graham was also named 2016 Glamour Woman of the Year, the one-off doll is part of a collaboration designed to celebrate body positivity and female empowerment.
Graham is at the forefront of the plus-size model phenomenon, using her influence online to promote a positive, healthy image of female beauty that defies many of the negatives once associated with the beauty industry.
“We need to work together to redefine the global image of beauty and continue to push for a more inclusive world,” Ashley said after the doll was unveiled.
“I’m thrilled Barbie has not only evolved their product, but also has continued to honour women who are pushing boundaries. It’s an honour to be immortalised in plastic.”
Barbie has been making a conscious effort to push the same boundaries as Graham in recent years with the company’s range of Fashionistas dolls offering children a choice of three body types, seven skin tones and 24 hairstyles.
Graham is only the latest celebrity to become a Barbie “Shero” too following in the footsteps of Ava DuVernay, Emmy Rossum, Eva Chen, Gabby Douglas, Misty Copeland, and Zendaya.
