Arrested Development Is Returning For A Fifth Season And It’s Coming Very Soon

Five years on from the last series, the Bluth family are back.

Arrested Development is back.

Arrested Development is returning for a long awaited fifth series and it’s arriving sooner than anyone expected.

Netflix confirmed plans for a new season of the show in May 2017, but failed to disclose a specific release date to fans leaving many questioning whether it would happen at all.

The controversy surrounding key star Jeffrey Tambor hardly helped. Tambor was taken off the hit Amazon series Transparent amid accusations of sexual misconduct.

However, the team behind Arrested Development opted to stand by the star and move forward with plans for the show.  It’s worth noting that Tambor is facing no criminal charges and that the accusations against him are, as yet, unfounded.

Even so, Netflix only confirmed a new season was on the way this May and that it was coming sooner than anyone could have expected – this May, in fact.

Arrested Development Season 5 will launch on Netflix, 29 May 2018 with the official synopsis reading:

“As this Netflix (semi) original series returns on May 29th, the Bluths are back together, and finally getting the award they think they deserve – for family of the year.

“A development which will help Lindsay as she begins her campaign for Congress, to become ‘part of the problem’. But whatever happens, Michael will always come back to save the family. Probably.”

With all of the original cast returning along with a few amusing additions, the cult comedy show is sure to go down well with fans.

It also looks set to dive into the murky world of politics, with hilarious results.

The creators have already promised that the series will return to its original format of multi-stranded storylines across episodes, as opposed to episodes focusing on individual characters.
